Gear Review:Priority Bikes 600 ADX

A genre defining bikepacking bike, designed by Ryan Van Duzer himself, and built by Priority Bicycles.

What the product is

The Priority 600ADX is a versatile adventure bike with all the accoutrement’s you'd expect, and then some. It's designed for bikepacking, trail riding, and long-distance touring. It features a 12-speed Pinion C1.12 gearbox paired with a Gates Carbon Drive belt, eliminating the need for traditional chains and derailleurS and all the maintenance required with them. The bike is built around a 6061 aluminum frame and is equipped with a Marzocchi Bomber Z2 suspension fork, WTB Ranger 29 x 2.4” tires, and TRP Slate T4 hydraulic disc brakes. With 19 mounting points, it offers extensive options for carrying gear, making it suitable for extended off-road adventures.

Who the product is for

The 600ADX is ideal for riders seeking a low-maintenance, durable, and comfortable bike for off-road touring and bikepacking. The bike's geometry provides a balance between nimble handling on trails and stability when fully loaded. The Marzocchi Bomber fork handles rough terrain well though dedicated mountain bikers might wish for a little more travel, we found the travel to be more than adequate for the types of adventures we do.It's well-suited for long trips both far and wide. However, if you plan on traveling internationally we'd recommend packing a spare belt. While it is unlikely you will damage or break the belt it's also unlikely that you will find one easily in other countries.

What the product is not

The 600ADX is not a high-performance gravel bike or an aggressive trail machine. Its geometry prioritizes comfort and stability over sharp handling, making it less suitable for riders seeking a fast-paced, competitive experience. Additionally, while the bike is designed for rugged terrain, it may not excel in extreme technical conditions where more specialized equipment is required. This bike is a lot of things and can handle most terrain you just might need to take it a little slower.

How it compares to similar products

Compared to other rigs from Priority like the Priority HXT, the 600ADX offers a more comfortable and upright riding position, making it better suited for extended touring and bikepacking. While the HXT is designed with a more aggressive geometry for trail riding, the 600ADX focuses on comfort and versatility.

This bike is built differently than some of the traditional favorites from bikepacking, such as the Esker Hayduke, Kona Honzo, or the classic Surly Karate Monkey. The Priority ADX puts you in a more upright position that feels comfortable on extended climbs and long stretches of gravel or double track. Speed is not the Priority (see what we did there?). With the ADX, it truly is about the journey and not the destination.
